In Infection, Sheridan Hines explores the insidious spread of generational trauma—how emotional wounds, like untreated infections, pass silently from one body to the next. Disembodied, glossy red limbs lie atop a patterned rug, a domestic space now disrupted by raw, biomorphic growths. These fleshy, tumor-like forms symbolize trauma’s persistence and mutation across time. Using synthetic materials to evoke the visceral, Hines confronts the viewer with the uncomfortable truth: trauma doesn’t simply fade—it embeds, multiplies, and infects.
